Salary: £33,945 to £36,648 per annum

Working Pattern: Full time, 37 hours per week

Location: County Hall, Chichester and working from home

This is an exciting role where, as the Continuous Improvement Support Officer, you will identify and embed continuous improvement for the County Council in its role as Administering Authority to the West Sussex Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and as Scheme Manager for the West Sussex Fire & Rescue Pension Scheme, and lead projects that deliver changes in line with the Pension Teams Business Plan.

Your role reports into the Finance Manager but works on a flexible basis across the Pensions Team to bring capacity, innovation, creativity and expertise to enable the progression of a diverse range of activities including short term projects and campaigns. You can expect to be working jointly to lead or support the research, design, development, implementation and evaluation of projects to innovate and build on best practice to help deliver an efficient and effective, customer focused service to the range of Pension Scheme stakeholders.

You will be part of the wider Pensions Team which focuses on managing the investments and understanding the liabilities of the West Sussex LGPS and supporting employers fulfil their responsibilities within the Scheme, administering the West Sussex Firefighters Pension Schemes on behalf of members and delivering quality services for all stakeholders.

What are we looking for?

  • You will have a clear understanding of the Pension Scheme landscape and the Pension Team's priorities.
  • You will be able to use your strong organisational, communications and research skills to coordinate activities which drive positive change and someone who can build relationships with a range of colleagues is key to this role as you will often be the primary support for delivering continuous improvement activity for the team.
  • You will be a forward planner, excellent at time-management, able to organise and prioritise your workload and the workloads of others, responding to issues that may occur, and where there may be no set procedures to follow.
  • You will be motivated in developing data reporting approaches which enable the Pensions Team, the Scheme Managers and our partners to understand any evolving risks or issues and meet local or national reporting requirements.
  • You will have a keen analytical eye and the ability to collate, analyse and interpret quality data to produce reports and commentary for managers.
  • You will be confident in the design and production of standard and non-standard reports, monitoring performance against a range of performance indicators or processes.
  • You will be able to deliver flexible information reporting for colleagues, partners and elected members, including the collection, collation, analysis and presentation of performance management data.
