Finance Manager

Our client is a well know and successful UK leisure operator, highly profitable and with a turnover of c.£500m. It operates a centralised shared service function from its North East headquarters and is maximising investment in its development - team members, processes and technology - developing a continuous improvement framework to build a culture of excellence and innovation.

We are newly looking for a Finance Manager to join the company's dynamic and high-performing Management Accounts Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with both exceptional business partnering experience, particularly working with senior level leadership, as well as solid Management Accounts background.

Your main responsibilities as Finance Manager will include:

  • Providing financial support, building partnerships and maintaining strong relationships with business unit management
  • Providing commercial insight to ensure key operational, commercial and financial targets are delivered
  • Identifying and measuring key success drivers for business functions such as HR and Commercial
  • Support functions in preparation of planning data by providing financial analysis and modelling, including responsible for planning data input into TM1
  • Managing daily, weekly and month-end processes with specific responsibility to improve timeliness, accuracy and efficiency of output
  • Leading the production of departmental reporting including commentary and variance analysis
  • Preparation of Board Slides and commentary
  • Critically reviewing and enhancing processes, recommending improvements to ensure the highest quality of actual and planning data.
  • Completing Balance Sheet Reconciliations, owning, monitoring and addressing reconciling items, identifying risks and opportunities
  • Providing ad-hoc MI as and when required
  • Providing technical advice during projects initiation and scoping. Testing and sign off for relevant projects.
  • Driving improvements in the overall finance product and culture of the finance team
  • Leading responses to Audit requests during the year end process

As Finance Manager you'll need:

  • Strong experience in similar role - Finance Manager, Finance Business Partner or Management Accountant, preferably gained in a larger, fast-moving, service-driven business and/or supporting/partnering operational teams
  • Line management experience is desirable (two direct reports)
  • Qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA (or equivalent)
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills
  • Advanced in the use of Excel and Office with ERP such as SunSystems
  • Highly numerate and analytical with excellent attention to detail
