Role details

Our client is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to join their team in Worcestershire. This role offers a unique opportunity to oversee the financial activities of a European Region, including India and Poland. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, external audit, taxation & treasury, transaction processing, payroll, general ledger and compliance. This role requires a dynamic individual who can drive continuous improvement in controls environment while mitigating risk and enhancing efficiency.

Responsibilities of the Interim Financial Controller

As an Interim Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial activities across multiple regions. Your key responsibilities will include ensuring the integrity of month-end processes, managing annual processes such as year-end audits and tax returns, leading a dedicated finance team, strengthening tax compliance, managing treasury functions, improving internal controls, and overseeing payroll operations. You will work closely with other divisional functions and global corporate financial management to drive continuous improvement in our controls environment.

  • Ensure the integrity of the month end balance sheet through review and understanding of all GL journals
  • Undertake all monthly reporting responsibilities to FD, Corporate function (US) and SLT as applicable
  • Manage the year end audit, statutory accounts and corporation tax return preparation for all entities and branches within the European Region
  • Effectively manage, grow and develop the Finance team, providing coaching, training and mentoring
  • Strengthen tax compliance in all areas of tax (Payroll Tax, VAT, Corporate tax)
  • Manage the regional Treasury management function and strategy to enhance cash flow and secure liquidity
  • Further strengthen and improve the region's internal controls environment
  • Review and sign off of all elements of the monthly payroll for UK and Europe

What the successful candidate will bring

  • ACA qualified accountant with 10 years post qualification experience preferably in the manufacturing sector
  • UK/US GAAP experience
  • Experience establishing accounting processes and understanding of internal controls
  • Strong computer skills including ERP systems, specifically SAP
  • Excellent communication skills with exceptional depth in accounting knowledge
