Financial Accounting Manager

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Financial Accounting Manager on a permanent basis to join this growing public sector organisation. This role offers a unique opportunity to oversee and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all regulatory reports, including interim and year-end financial accounts. You will be responsible for the delivery of monthly management accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow, as well as ensuring the accurate completion of VAT and Corporation Tax returns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead expert on technical accounting matters, providing comprehensive analysis of the impact of changes.
  • Maintain control of the chart of accounts and manage both the interim and year-end external audit processes.
  • Ensure up-to-date financial accounting and regular balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage and maintain the fixed asset register.
  • Drive Value for Money across the organisation.
  • Prepare statutory financial accounts for all companies within the group, ensuring audit clearance and timely submission to the Boards.
  • Produce relevant regulatory reports and generate accurate investor and lender reports.
  • Consistently apply accounting standards across the group.
  • Manage Corporation Tax, VAT and other relevant taxes, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting.
  • Maintain and review the control environment regularly.
  • Lead, manage, and develop a small team of Accountants.

This Financial Accounting Manager position reports into the Assistant Director of Finance and will require two days of attendance at the organisations head office in south Buckinghamshire. The post holder will benefit from 30 days of annual leave (excluding bank holidays) and will be joining an organisation dedicated to its employees constant learning and development.

Person Specification:

  • Full accountancy qualification.
  • Strong technical competence and experience in statutory, financial, and management accounting, including preparation of year-end and quarterly accounts, budgets, management reports, and statutory returns.
  • Understanding of VAT and corporation tax matters.
  • Experience in managing and developing small teams.
