Legal Cashier
REED ACCOUTANCY are working with an award-winning legal firm based in Southend who is looking for a Legal Cashier to provide maternity cover on a 12-month fixed-term contract basis , with the potential for a permanent position thereafter.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a legal account setting and a working knowledge of the SRA accounts rules.
Day to Day of the role:
- Processing bills and ensuring ledger accuracy.
- Conducting client to office transfers.
- Handling the accurate and timely processing of client and office account payments, including cheque production and telegraphic transfers via electronic banking.
- Posting legal aid transactions and managing related processes.
- Checking and balancing client completion statements and probate statements.
- Calculating interest and ensuring compliance with money laundering regulations when processing transactions.
- Assisting with daily bank reconciliations and managing outstanding receipts.
- Managing petty cash and processing and paying expenses.
- Assisting with purchase ledger transactions and general banking duties.
- Performing analysis and ad hoc tasks as directed by the Finance Manager.
- Providing cover for accounts staff during absences.
- Ensuring strict adherence to Solicitors Accounts Rules and firm policies.
- Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a legal account setting.
- Working knowledge of the SRA accounts rules.
- Proficiency in electronic banking and transaction processing.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial matters.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Good communication skills and a team player.
