This is an exciting role to work for a company, where transforming lives and building stronger communities are key.

Working as Senior Operations Manager, you'll support the Contract Manager by leading daily site operations; managing their team of Detention Custody Managers, monitoring progress to ensure care and welfare of the detained persons is maintained at all times. Experience of working with high-risk or vulnerable people would be beneficial, as well as experience of working in teams (ideally with a range of partners and stakeholders) to promote positive behavior and reduce anxieties amongst a vulnerable service user group.

  • You will develop and lead a function (i.e. Admissions and Discharge) and be responsible and accountable for success within this area.
  • You'll ensure a respectful, nonjudgmental and engaging welcome for all, making sure all on-site procedures and policies are communicated effectively and delivered in a timely manner. You will put relevant processes and training in place to enable detained persons to access support and services including healthcare, welfare, education and other essentials.
  • You'll build strong, supportive relationships with individuals in your team and detained persons alike, providing governance, guidance and understanding at all times. Ensuring staff records, including time sheets and training are completed and available for review.
  • You'll be a key point of contact for various on-site partners to ensure smooth running of the site. You will also liaise with local stakeholders collaboratively to improve services (evidence stakeholder meetings). Providing engagement and support to locals and nearby businesses, facilitating productive working relationships will be key.
  • You will be responsible for a critical area of operations as well as the company budget, taking responsibility for a specific specialist area of delivery/compliance, as requested by the Contract Manager. You'll create, review and continually improve polices and processes pertaining to your area of responsibility, ensuring consistency of documents and application of processes at our site. You will provide a timely operational overview of information for the Contract Manager to create reports for review by the governance board.
  • You'll take responsibility for managing health, safety and environmental matters including record keeping. You will also ensure accurate records are kept of security patrols and visitors, the resident register, complaints log, and handover documents, ensuring appropriate reporting lines are followed.
  • You'll be responsible for appropriate escalation in the event of any contingency plan being activated.

Experience needed as Senior Operations Manager:

  • Experience of leading an operational team in line with contract specifications; setting clear expectations, key performance indicators and objectives for all employees on site. Performance management of individuals and processes to ensure continuous improvement.
  • You will demonstrate high levels of human empathy, be a caring and compassionate individual who takes responsibility for their actions and is committed to supporting our service user group.
  • You'll have strong leadership, delegation, communication, influencing and interpersonal skills, with a track record of promoting equality and anti-discriminatory practice through service provision.
  • Experience of working with high-risk or vulnerable people would be beneficial, as well as experience of working in teams (ideally with a range of partners and stakeholders) to promote positive behavior and reduce anxieties amongst a vulnerable service user group.
  • Experience of delivering high performing and outcome-focused services and programmes in a target driven outsourced contract environment.
  • Action focused, target driven and have an ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Proven experience of managing teams to deliver a 24/7 service.
