With a store portfolio of c340 stores plus our expanding ecommerce business, this is a key role within the finance department, as it ensures sound controls are in place and that our financial data is accurate and transparent. This is an important business partnering role that supports financial and operational reporting, analysis and planning, ensuring the gatekeeping of our balance sheet and profit and loss control is in good hands.

As a Financial Accounting Manager you report into the Head of Financial Reporting ensuring that monthly management accounts are produced accurately, budgets and forecasts for the balance sheet and cashflow statements are created in line with prescribed timescales.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Responsibility for balance sheet reconciliation and control
  • Responsibility for all aspects of financial control, disciplines and compliance with reporting deadlines
  • Preparation of balance sheet and funds flow report
  • Preparation of balance sheet and funds flow budgets and forecasts
  • Ongoing assessment of financial accounting systems and ledger processes
  • Monthly management accounts and flash reporting to Senior Finance within prescribed deadlines
  • Representation of Financial Accounts at cost meetings with various departments throughout the business
  • Representation of the Finance Department on various panels for projects
  • Working capital analysis
  • Production of aged debt reports and other financial reports
  • Preparation of annual statutory accounts
  • Preparation of VAT returns and other statutory returns and analysis
  • Oversee payroll department, ensuring all tasks & reporting are completed to deadlines
  • Preparation and administration of staff training sessions
  • Preparation of ad-hoc reconciliations and forecasts for senior management
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required

Qualifications
- Proven experience within an Accountant role

  • Professional certification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA)
  • Strong knowledge of financial management principles- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel- Excellent analytical skills- Attention to detail and accuracy
