Job Summary:

As a Senior Employee Relations Advisor, you will be a key member of the HR team, responsible for managing complex employee relations (ER) issues and providing expert guidance to managers and staff. You will play a pivotal role in promoting a positive workplace culture, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, and mitigating risk to the business. Key Responsibilities:

  • Employee Relations Management: Lead the management of complex ER cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, performance management, sickness absence, and redundancy processes. Ensure all cases are handled effectively, fairly, and in line with company policies and UK employment law.
  • Advisory Support: Provide expert advice and support to managers and employees on a wide range of HR issues, offering practical solutions that align with business objectives while maintaining legal compliance.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures. Ensure that these are communicated effectively and understood by all staff.
  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs to managers on ER-related topics, such as conflict resolution, performance management, and employment law updates, to enhance their capability in managing people issues.
  • Mediation and Conflict Resolution: Act as a mediator in employee disputes, helping to resolve conflicts amicably and maintaining a harmonious working environment.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Monitor and analyze ER data and trends, preparing reports for senior management to inform decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business, including managers, employees, and external partners, to support the achievement of HR and business objectives.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all HR activities are carried out in compliance with UK employment law, ACAS guidelines, and company policies. Keep up to date with changes in legislation and best practices.
  • Project Management: Lead or participate in HR projects that contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department and the broader business, such as engagement initiatives, restructuring programs, or diversity and inclusion strategies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a similar Employee Relations role, with a strong background in managing complex ER cases within a large, multi-site organization.

  • Education: CIPD qualification or equivalent in Human Resources or a related field.

  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of UK employment law and best practices in employee relations. Experience in the leisure, hospitality, or retail sectors is advantageous.

  • Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.

  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.

  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
