Head of Corporate Programme Management Office

The organisation is focused onprioritising the delivery of high quality, customer focused servicesto deliver for the Borough both now and into the future and has a diverse range of both capital and transformation projects to be identified and delivered as part of its corporate plan.

In order tolead on the strategically significant projects and programmesthe Council has created a Corporate PMO and is seeking to appoint a Head of Department to further establish and lead this unit. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive the Head of Corporate Programme Management Office will have a cross cutting role, engaging with the various directorates to identifystrategically significant projectsand programmes of work aligned to the corporate priorities, undertaking feasibility studies, creating business cases and securing funding. The role holder will also lead a team to oversee the delivery of these projects within a robust project management methodology.

This is an exciting opportunity for a credible and experienced project management professional with at least three years at a senior level with the following skills and experience:

  • experience of using programme, project and change management methodologies to ensure the successful management and delivery of major projects and programmes (to include capital projects) within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • experience in the use of economic appraisal techniques and development of business cases or complex proposals to secure investment.
  • ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at a senior level to secure support to a major project or service change.
  • experience of building competence within the organisation in project management and delivery.
  • experience of managing complex risks and issues, with the ability to anticipate problems before they arise and offer appropriate solutions.
  • a track record of delivering against challenging objectives meeting a range of key targets and making significant improvements.
