Job Title: Shift Manager Production
Location: Monmouth
Salary: £37-£40,000 per annum depending on experience
Hours: Full time days regular but working 2 different day shifts
Shift 1 6am-2pm Monday to Thursday and 6am-11am on a Friday
Shift 2 10am - 6pm Monday to Thursday and 11am-4pm on a Friday

Here at The Recruitment Co we are currently recruiting a Shift Manager to work for a Manufacturing company based in Monmouth. This is a full time permanent role working days regular.

Overview of Role
As a Shift Manager you will be responsible for the performance and output of all production operations, managing a team of Senior Production Operatives and Production Operatives. You will be closely monitoring and driving Health & Safety standards, efficiency, production, quality, waste reduction and cost
taking corrective action to address shortfalls. With full line-management responsibility for the team, you will be conducting performance reviews and creating a culture of continuous improvement and team unity. You will also be involved in improvement strategy/projects and communicating this to the production teams and
communicating promptly with key departments throughout the business to ensure customer needs are met.

Main Job Roles

  • Drive Safety, efficiency, cost, waste reduction, and quality.
  • Ensuring crew levels are correct.
  • Managing daily workload and ensure process flow through the integrated plant.
  • Responsible for first line management.
  • Working closely with other departments to ensure goods are delivered on time and in full
  • Attending daily production meetings.
  • Attend monthly management meetings.
  • Conduct tool box talks and team briefings
  • Monitor and feedback performance levels to your reports.
  • Ensure communication among the department.
  • Produce weekly/monthly reports .
  • Ensuring that all agreed production outputs are met on each manufacturing machines.
  • Ensuring that all products comply with all quality requirements set out by the business.
  • Supporting and ensuring sustainability of all business development plan initiatives/projects.
  • To run Production meetings and report upon outputs on a daily basis.
  • To develop a skill set and interpersonal techniques to empower a multi - cultural workforce
  • To provide clear direction, encouragement and support to the production team.
  • To ensure adherence to performance management skills.
  • Monitor the volume and quality of output adjusting tasks, timing, and equipment set up, or inputs so that production specifications are met and resources are used efficiently.
  • Assume responsibility for H&S, security, quality, cost and delivery.
  • Organising your teams to ensure experience and skills are balanced across the shop floor.
  • Ensuring regular quality checks are conducted.
  • Liaise with logistics ensuring finished goods materials are delivered into FG in a timely manner.
  • Ensure finished product loaded and collected in a timely manner.
  • Liaising with customer services.
  • Deal with all employee relation issues/queries in conjunction with the HR Department.
  • Deal with Investigation, Disciplinary and Grievance matters as and when required.
  • Conduct all Return to Work interviews for all direct reports.
  • Updating Softworks with employees absence and overtime.
  • Have a clear understanding of the business vision ensuring that you are contributing to this

Required Experience
The following skills would be advantageous but not limiting to the candidate's appointment to the position.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Manufacturing management experience or similar
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of the manufacturing process Desirable
  • Good knowledge of print and conversion processes, to support customer issues desirable
  • Practical experience with continuous improvement techniques and projects is essential (5s, Lean, Sigma, Kaizen)
  • Someone who is willing to push change in line with Continuous improvement
  • People Management experience carrying out appraisals, disciplinaries
  • ILM Level 2/3 desirable.
  • Ability to generate reports.
  • Understanding of KPI's
