Tempest Jones is excited to be appointed by this highly regarded financial planning practice based in Sheffield who now seek an Operations Manager to oversee running of general operations in a busy team of financial advisers, paraplanners and technical support staff.
This company puts their clients' needs at the heart of everything they do, helping them to navigate the sometimes quite complex world of financial planning. They have expertise in a wide range of financial topics including tax planning, pensions and retirement planning, protection, investments and wealth management.
The Operations Manager role is new to the business and as such this is a very exciting opportunity for somebody with similar experience to put their own stamp on the role and make a real impact on how the business grows.

Core accountabilities as follows:

  • Supervision of a small team of support staff incorporating appraisals, performance management, workflow management and recruitment.
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the financial planning practice, ensuring efficiency and adherence to regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Working in collaboration with partners, advisers and paraplanners to provide a high level of service to clients as well as fostering a positive and enjoyable working environment.
  • Monitoring and hands on involvement in new business processing and client reviews, delegating appropriately and troubleshooting on complex cases.
  • Training of new starters.
  • MI collation and FCA reporting.
  • Assisting with paraplanning function, creating templates and overseeing the file checking process.
  • Daily use of Intelligent Office, Iris and Microsoft office suite.
  • Collaborating with management to identify opportunities for process improvement and implementing changes to increase efficiency.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial planning support ideally with experience supervising team members. Paraplanning or file checking experience would also be welcomed but this is not a deal-breaker.
  • Qualification to Level 4 in Regulated Financial Planning (part of full) would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Knowledge of compliance and FCA requirements.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, along with Microsoft office.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills able to create a friendly and supportive working environment.
