Head of Legal & Compliance (Sole Counsel) role with a dynamic, entrepreneurial professional services business
Birmingham city centre (hybrid 3 days a week) salary c. £100k basic plus bonus
This fast growing firm with a national footprint is looking to hire it's first dedicated in-house counsel to take responsibility for advising the business on a wide range of commercial and day to day legal matters. You will provide strategic commercial legal support, ensure a robust compliant environment and manage risk.
Ideally you will have an in-house commercial background (we are open on sector, it is the commercial pragmatism and culture fit that is most important) and be able to advise on a range of commercial matters, including:
- The full range of commercial contracts and agreements
- Manage and mitigate risk and regulatory matters
- Work with compliance and the HR teams on training and process
- Provide guidance on corporate transactions
- Take the lead as DPO on compliance and Data Protection legislation.
- Manage external advisers
- Devise process and implement efficiencies
- Management of governance function
The ideal candidate will be UK qualified with previous experience of working in an in-house advisory role.
You will have extensive commercial contract drafting skills, with demonstrable experience and exposure to data protection, corporate governance and compliance
Additional exposure to employment, risk management, litigation would also be useful, hence the preferred industry background
