Team Leader (CNC Engineering) - Requirements
- Team Leader experience in a similar environment (CNC background)
- Completed an engineering apprenticeship
- Good understanding of engineering practices and methods
- Knowledge of powder metallurgy processes
- Knowledge and understanding of machining methods, particularly vertical CNC milling machines and lathes
- Able to communicate effectively through various written methods
- Assertive when required
- Able to delegate effectively
- Able to motivate and recognise opportunities for team members to develop
- Proactively identifies and deals with conflict
- Acts with initiative
- Understand what motivates his team and gets the best from them
- Knowledge of Excel, able to understand and interpret spreadsheets
- Good understanding of Word, Outlook & PowerPoint
- Able to work with MRP / ERP systems and understand the limitations/processes of these systems

- Able to manage frequently and rapidly changing priorities and react in a clear and rational manner
Team Leader (CNC Engineering) - Responsibilities
- Supervise team members daily during the normal operation of a busy production environment, in line with production and demand priorities.
- Ensure that team members have an adequate workload on a daily basis
- Determine the best use of manpower in the team.
- Ensure that tooling, fixtures and relevant information is available for members when required.
- Identify any engineering requirements/issues that arise and communicate to the relevant person (Production Planner, H&S, Commercial, Maintenance & Engineering Departments)
- Ensuring routine maintenance is carried out as necessary
- Be available to handover from or to another team leader at the start or end of the shift.
- Manage staff attendance and development
- Complete yearly PDRs for each team member
- Monitor and manage work attendance
- Identify any training requirements for team members/capability issues
- Conduct Start of Shift / End of Shift meetings to update the 'SQCDP' charts
- Operate machinery (preferably CNC milling machines) and other work-shop equipment where necessary
- Set and prove out job, obtaining a first of job has been proved out.
- Run milling machines after setting, ensuring that quality is maintained throughout the entire production run.
- Ensuring routine machine maintenance is carried out as necessary
- Operate CNC and Manual CMM machines, following instructions to run programs to check drawing compliance of manufactured parts.
- Be a 'First Of' stamp holder
- Ensure that health and safety guidelines and practices are maintained and developed.
- Ensure that team members work in a safe manner both to themselves and to their colleagues
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant H&S policies and procedures and act as a role model in demonstrating compliance within the workplace
- Ensure all operators are adequately trained and informed of all relevant H&S matters
- Ensure programme in machine shop area is sustained and periodically reviewed
- Assist with problem-solving any issues that appear.
- Communicate any issues through appropriate methods to the engineering, commercial and technical departments
- Assist the operators, when required, with the day to day operations
- Recommend courses of action for moving capacity around, ensuring customer deliveries and KPIs are met
- Identify and develop manufacturing improvements/procedures
- Understand all of the material specifications that produces and what that means for production
- Understand what are the individual quality requirements imposed by customers and ensure that these are met with production
- Ensure that any methods improvements are communicated through the appropriate means Knowledge/experience/skills
