Chichester College have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Lecturer in 14-16 Alternative Provision at Chichester College. You will join us on a part-time, fixed term (1 year) basis and in return, we will offer a competitive salary ofpro rata of £26,189 - £40,839 (i.e. £15,713.40 - £24,503.40) per annum.

This is an exciting opportunity for an inspiring, dynamic and committed Lecturer who has relevant experience of supporting learners who have, up until now, not engaged in mainstream education. You will be creative, experienced and passionate about working with these students aged 14-16 and have the ability to engage and encourage students to participate and develop new skills in an exciting and motivating environment, this will include the delivery of GCSE Maths.

Job purpose:

  • Undertaking teaching activities in the curriculum area, ensuring a high quality of provision, in response to learners' needs.
  • Working collaboratively and innovatively with managers and colleagues to design, develop, manage and review programmes in the curriculum area.
  • Ensuring that student needs are met in a responsive way, in line with the concept of inclusive learning.

Key Responsibilities of our Lecturer in 14-16 Alternative Provision:

  • Undertaking teaching and learning related activities, including tutoring, as agreed
  • Taking an active role in the achievement of high individual student retention and success rates, meeting or surpassing the relevant targets for each
  • Undertaking and supporting the delivery of Functional Skills Maths, English, Personal Social Education (PSE) and/or ICT
  • Ensuring that appropriate learning materials are prepared and assessments and assignments are undertaken in a timely manner
  • Undertaking administration and provide reports and statistics regarding student and teaching matters
  • Developing curricula and learning activities, taking into consideration Maths and English development and equality and diversity
  • Participating in marketing activities and promote the College in a positive way for the purpose of gaining sponsorship, advertising, good public relations and increased recruitment

Our ideal Lecturer in 14-16 Alternative Provision should have the below skills and experience:

  • Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy
  • Relevant industrial/commercial/subject experience
  • Working knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies
  • An understanding of safeguarding vulnerable groups
  • Time management skills, organisational skills and the ability to meet targets and deadlines
  • The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all levels, verbally and in writing
