Shop Assistant
6-month position — £12.20 / hour + benefits
If you're enthusiastic, a great team player and fantastic with customers, we'd love you to join our team in Broughton-in-Furness.
You'll be flexible to work in our Grocers, Butchers and Bakery and we'll teach you everything you need to know – what's important is that you're willing to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in! You'll need to be able to work
between 20 and 40 hours a week (including some Saturdays).
Responsibilities
As a Shop Assistant, you'll:
- Give everyone who walks through the door a fantastic level of customer service, whether by serving bread & cakes, meat or groceries
- Make sure the shops are always looking their best
- Ensure stock levels are spot on — no stock-outs but no out-of-date stock either!
- Complete daily checklists and paperwork accurately (including end-of-day procedures)
Attributes
You'll be friendly and flexible, and you'll need to have:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — you'll enjoy meeting and chatting to customers
- The ability to use your initiative but also know when to ask for help
- A willingness to cover a wide range of tasks and help with whatever needs doing
- Good numeracy skills – confident dealing with cash and calculating change
- The ability to work under pressure and juggle a number of different tasks
