The ideal candidate for our Assistant Director of Studies role will be working in a similar position in either the private or public sector. It is essential that you have experience of managing a team of highly experienced EFL Teachers. You must also be able to deliver to the highest standards as expected by the British Council. You will have a Bachelors degree and be TEFLQ as defined by the British Council.

As our Assistant Director of Studies – International & English as a Foreign Language, you will be responsible for:

  • Working collaboratively and innovatively with staff to design, develop, manage and review programmes.
  • Taking responsibility for ensuring the EFL programme is appropriately staffed.
  • Supporting new and existing staff to improve the quality of teaching, learning and assessment and associated processes.
  • Deputising for the Director of Studies.
  • Ensuring that student needs are met in a responsive way, in line with the concept of inclusive learning.
  • Undertaking teaching, learning and assessment activities in the curriculum area, ensuring a high quality of provision, in response to learners' needs.

Evening and weekend work may be required.

You may be required to undertake such duties as may be reasonably required of you commensurate with this grade.

Skills & Experience required for this role:

  • TEFLQ
  • BA Degree
  • Level 2 English, Maths and IT
  • Proven record of EFL teaching and assessment to a consistently high standard, including the use of ILT
  • Experience of using CLASS and/or Guided E-Learning packages
  • Proven record of trialling new developments within own teaching & learning and assessment and supporting the development of others
  • Supervisory or management experience
  • Experience working within a customer focused environment
  • Up to date knowledge of British Council criteria and how to retain scheme approval
  • An understanding of equality and diversity, safeguarding obligations and health and safety, relating to staff, students and curriculum delivery
  • Knowledge of EFL sector
