Location: On-site role based in Gloucester

Overview

Due to strong demand and new contracts, this advanced manufacturing business is expanding its purchasing team. As a Buyer, you will manage material procurement, build supplier relationships, and negotiate prices while ensuring adherence to quality, quantity, and delivery standards.

Please Note: A security clearance check will be undertaken for the successful candidate. The business does not offer visa sponsorship. Candidates must be British citizens who have lived in the UK permanently for the past five years.

Responsibilities

Procurement Management

  • Source, negotiate, and procure materials, components, and services, primarily from suppliers in the UK and Europe.
  • Collaborate with the estimating team to obtain competitive quotations.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery and high-quality materials.
  • Monitor market trends to identify potential supply risks and opportunities.

Cost Management

  • Negotiate favourable terms, pricing, and contracts to achieve cost savings.
  • Conduct regular cost analyses to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.

Supplier Management

  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews and manage relationships to ensure compliance with company standards.

Process Improvement

  • Support the implementation and enhancement of procurement processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Utilize the MRP system to track, manage, and streamline purchasing activities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with production, technical, quality, and finance teams to align procurement activities with business objectives.
  • Participate in new product development projects to source and qualify new suppliers and materials.

Compliance and Documentation

  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the business.

Experience, Key Skills, and Attributes

  • 3-5 years of experience in a procurement role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to manage procurement in a fast-paced, high-growth setting.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in MRP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Analytical skills for cost analysis and market research.
  • High diligence and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Initiative-taking problem-solving skills and the ability to make independent decisions.
