Tenant Activities and Engagement Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work for our Client Association. They are looking for a great Tenant Activities and Engagement Officer.

You will make a significant contribution to the future direction of the association by adding value, ideas & inspiration and really drive forward our continued success. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a developing independent and sustainable organisation with tenants at the heart of everything they do.

This is a varied and exciting role, focussing on their tenants who live across four extra care sites and five sheltered housing sites, with the majority being older people.

About The Role:

  • Developing a programme of engaging activities for our tenants
  • Engaging with tenants to understand their needs and aspirations.
  • Promoting a philosophy of privacy, dignity independence, choice, rights and fulfilment.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, supporting tenants' meetings, building networks.
  • Supporting volunteering opportunities

The ideal person for this role will have the ability to work with older people, particularly those with vulnerabilities and an understanding of the challenges they may face, including living with Dementia. You will be able to deliver creative and engaging activities and understand how to work in partnership with others

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Willingness to travel across the London Borough of Croydon and to sites in West Sussex.
  • Driver preferable but all locations are located using public transport
  • Flexible and willing to work evening and weekends on occasions to enable the delivery of activities and/or tenant meetings, although this will be kept to a minimum.
  • Experience or knowledge of how to work with older people, particularly those with vulnerabilities and an understanding of the challenges they may face, including living with Dementia.
  • Experience or knowledge of how to provide creative and engaging activities.
  • Experience of working in partnership with other agencies, charities and activities providers.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety and of safeguarding practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of social housing or experience of working in the statutory or voluntary sector
