Job Summary

Service Care is assisting Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters (CTPHQ) in recruiting for a skilled Software Developer. This role involves completing development and integration activities for key applications and services within CTPHQ. As a Software Developer, you will provide expertise in design and development, while also participating in technical activities across the project lifecycle-from early initiatives through to service transition.

This hands-on role requires significant contributions in both software development and design. You will also be a key team member providing third-line software support for critical national applications and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop technical solutions that meet both business and technical platform requirements.
  • Ensure solutions align with strategic technical and business objectives.
  • Take ownership of designs, from high-level strategic concepts to low-level configuration and installation details.
  • Participate throughout the project lifecycle, from defining requirements to assisting in the transition to production environments.
  • Automate the build and deployment of applications and services using corporate deployment pipelines.
  • Develop, configure, deliver, and integrate applications and services across various environments, including creating all necessary technical documentation.
  • Provide support to 2nd line application teams to maintain critical services for applications, infrastructure, and services.
  • Assist in refining DevOps processes and tools to mature CTPHQ's development capability.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong ASP.NET Core / C# development expertise
  • Proficient in core web development technologies: HTML, CSS & JavaScript
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server & T-SQL, and PostgreSQL
  • Unit and integration testing expertise
  • Familiarity with DevOps tooling and practices, including Nexus, Bitbucket, SonarQube, Jenkins, and AWX
  • Experience with containerisation technologies: Docker, Kubernetes & HELM
  • Comfort working in both Linux (CentOS) & Windows environments
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience working on large-scale business change and IT transformation programs
  • In-depth knowledge of Government Security Classification and related security policies
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in the policing sector or Central Government
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Blazor and building Single Page Applications
  • Experience with SIEM Tools, RabbitMQ, and Big Data technologies such as Elastic Search
