Founded in 2007 our client is one of the fastest growing banks of their kind in the UK. They offer personal and corporate savings products and finance for UK residential and commercial property, in addition to sourcing and advising on UK real estate investments.

Due to growth within the business, they are now looking to acquire the services of an underwriter to be based onsite in their Wilmslow Office. As an underwriter you will be responsible for underwriting and processing new home finance applications from receipt to offer whilst also ensuring that a positive customer experience is maintained through the process through effective communication.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess and Underwrite: Evaluate new business cases within Credit Policy and KYC guidelines, aiming for pragmatic approvals to bolster the Bank's reputation as a Specialist Financer.
  • Offer Alternatives: Propose viable options to approve cases rather than outright declines, while adhering to Credit Policy and KYC governance. Communicate decline decisions clearly and promptly to maintain good broker/customer relations.
  • Finance Rationale: Create well-structured and documented Finance rationales covering both credit and CDD (KYC/AML) in line with policies, mitigating potential risks.
  • Efficiency: Process cases efficiently, following established procedures to meet internal and external Service Level Agreements.
  • Positive Attitude: Exhibit a "Can Do" attitude with brokers and colleagues, supporting the Bank in delivering outstanding service and achieving external recognition.

  • Credit Referencing report understanding.
  • RICS Valuation.
  • Application Scoring.
  • Risk awareness.
  • Regulatory standards awareness - MCOB (Mortgage Conduct of Business Regulation).
  • Influencing skills (negotiation, persuasion, leadership).
