Our client are a Large Global Logistics Forwarder who have an exciting new opportunity available for an Operations Coordinator based at their specialist cargo division in Farnborough. The successful applicant will have previous freight forwarding operational experience (primarily airfreight imports and/or exports, including Customs clearance). The successful candidate should be confident, enthusiastic, have a good level of education, clear English communication/customer service skills both verbal & written and be commercially aware with good IT and organisational skills.

Employment Terms for the Operations Coordinator

  • 8.5 Hours (1 Hour for Lunch) 5 Days per week Mon -Fri
  • Office Based

Job purpose - General summary and scope

Operations Co-ordinator working within a multi-modal Operations team, transacting and arranging the smooth transportation of goods whilst providing the highest level of customer service.

Key duties and responsibilities

The role can range from handling Imports and Exports to specialist international installation and "whiteglove" deliveries in all modes, as well as movement of sensitive or high value equipment.

General freight forwarding experience required, not specific to modality. The candidate should demonstrate reliability and good time keeping.

Qualifications and key skills required

Qualifications to include:

  • GCSE level
  • General Freight Forwarding (Import/Export) experience.
  • Customs Clearance knowledge
  • Basic Microsoft Work/Excel experience
  • Ability to work well within a Team.
  • The candidate should be flexible, show a willingness to learn and develop new skills and have the ability to work under pressure.
  • The candidate should have a basic understanding of customs entries for Imports or Exports.

  • To apply all Statutory requirements as instructed

Working conditions

The successful candidate will be working in a busy operations environment and due to the nature of the industry and business, will sometimes be expected to work later or some weekend to support colleagues. The Operations teams are both friendly and welcoming and thrive on working as a close team and learning from each other.

Physical requirements

This role requires particular physical attributes due to its nature and tasks. A standard of physical health and fitness is required i.e.:

  • Good vision, good hearing
  • Strong command of the English Language
