Salary: full-time £25,000-£40,000 or part-time £25,000-£45,000 pro-rata

Location: Haslingden area

Flexible: consider full-time or part-time (part-time options include: 3 days a week, or 5 days a week but part-time hours eg 10am-2.30pm)

Claims Broker to act as a primary point of contact for clients and establish effective relationships with both clients and insurers offering client-centric claims solutions. The role will be handling claims from notification to final settlement whilst maintaining an audit trail of actions and adhering to FCA and company compliance protocols.

Role

  • Effective handling of new claims from notification to resolution for motor, property and liability insurance.
  • Creating new claim files, entries and updating financial records on relevant systems.
  • Liaising with Insurers as regard to the settlement of claims.
  • Managing client expectations throughout the process.
  • Providing analysis of cover related issues to ensure correct policy response from insurers for clients.
  • Notifying new claims, determining ongoing conduct in conjunction with insurers and discussing issues with experts.
  • Liaise with providers regarding individual claims.
  • Handling a portfolio of cross class claims.
  • Ensure all conversations are recorded files are maintained effectively and all Insurer correspondence is processed.
  • Draft and send standard and non-standard correspondence.
  • Negotiate settlement of claims with Insureds and their advisors.
  • Preparing analytical reports into claims for business segments and scheme boards.
  • Developing best practice claims guidelines.
  • Work closely with Account Handlers & Account Executives in relation to losses associated with their clients.

Experience/Skills

  • Previous experience handling claims is essential.
  • Ideally possess knowledge of FSA rules and guidelines relating to commercial/private clients and general insurance and underlying legal principles.
  • First rate customer service skills and an ability to understand their needs.
  • Strong telephone and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ability to develop and sustain relationships with Clients, Insurers and colleagues.
  • Confident communicator with good interpersonal skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
