Research Finance Manager

We're delighted to be partnering with a leading Higher Education institute based in West London, who are currently recruiting for Part-time Research Finance Manager to join the team on an interim basis for up to three months with the view to move onto a permanent contract after this point.

What's on offer:
The role is 20 hours per week with flexible working and with an excellent hybrid working set up. The daily/hourly rate is negotiable dependant on experience and the permanent salary is £39,607 per annum.

The successful candidate will come from a research & grants background and ideally will have higher education experience.

If however you do not come from a grants / higher education background, the client will consider a candidate from a finance background but they must be: ACCA / CIMA part qualified.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Ensure effective and efficient management of externally funded grants held
  • Act as a key liaison between academic staff, RSDO and finance teams
  • Act as a subject expert on award policies and procedures and monitor their change and development across the different funding bodies so as to give expert advice and guidance and ensure compliance with funder regulations, in particular for EU, KTP and Innovate UK funding
  • Produce and present reports, as appropriate, for Institute/University meetings and to give guidance and advice to individual budget holders
  • Compile research income and contribution analysis, discuss targets and variances with Head of Research Accounts and adjust forecasts throughout the financial year
  • Remain current with changes to funding body policies and inform others of the change in rules for eligibility and administrative processes
  • Propose high level changes to processes and working methodologies in response to policy and/or funding change

Experience required:

  • AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA / CIMA if no higher ed experience
  • Experience working within the higher education sector
  • 2-3 years working in research & grants-based role
  • Agresso unit 4 - desirable

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Ability to communicate with the senior leadership team
  • Organised and can manage workloads effectively

Working hours:
