Community Safety and Safeguarding Officer

Location: Birmingham
Salary: £29,432 per annum + £1,680 car allowance
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Our client, a large housing association based in Birmingham, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Community Safety and Safeguarding Officer to join their team. This is a full-time role offering a competitive salary, generous benefits, and the opportunity to make a real impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of high-level complaints, working closely with local authorities and community safety professionals to resolve conflicts.
  • Serve as an expert on anti-social behaviour (ASB), providing high-quality service and acting as the main point of contact for customers.
  • Deliver a proactive ASB service, including investigative, enforcement, and preventative activities.
  • Provide specialist advice, guidance, and support in complex ASB casework.
  • Develop and implement appropriate responses and solutions to ASB in conjunction with internal and external partners.
  • Ensure a swift and focused response to ASB and other breaches of tenancy conditions.
  • Take realistic, fast, and efficient action supported by an effective action plan.
  • Maintain sound knowledge of legislation and housing management practices related to ASB.
  • Have a thorough understanding of available legislation for tackling ASB and the legal remedies for breaches of tenancy conditions.

Requirements:

  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Proven experience within the social housing sector or local authority dealing with ASB and tenancy breaches.
  • Strong knowledge base of safeguarding good practice.
  • Passion for working positively with internal and external stakeholders to respond appropriately in line with the six principles of safeguarding.
  • Excellent communication skills and a can-do approach to working with residents, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Confidence to communicate clearly and directly in challenging circumstances involving ASB.
  • Good IT skills, with the ability to use relationship management systems, housing management systems, and produce quality reports.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative, organizing your workload to meet goals and KPIs.
