Reed Food & FMCG are recruiting for a Fruit Quality Controller, as the previous employee has been promoted to the position of Product Manager. This company promotes from within, with the current Head of Technical starting as a Quality Controller here many years ago.

Salary: £27k~

Hours: 8am to 5pm - 5 days a week.

Location: West Malling

As a Quality Controller, you'll play a vital role in upholding this companies' commitment to excellence. From inspecting fruit upon arrival, to conducting sampling activities, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring that their products meet the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct quality checks on incoming fruit to ensure compliance with specifications, using standardised tools.
  • Document inspection findings, generate reports, and escalate critical issues for prompt resolution.
  • Collect, prepare, and test fruit samples for basic quality assessment.
  • Monitor and report yield and defect data for analysis and improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain consistent quality standards.
  • Support the technical team with various quality control tasks as required.
  • Ensure adherence to regulations and maintain consistent product quality.
  • Prioritise health, safety, and hygiene standards for yourself and others, which may include physical tasks.

Essential

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify potential quality issues during inspections.
  • Some form of experience handling or inspecting perishable goods.
  • Valid UK driving license. (Due to the location)
  • A commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Desirable

  • Prior experience in a quality control or related role, preferably within the fresh produce industry.
  • Proven experience in conducting inspections of incoming raw materials according to established quality standards and procedures.
  • Experience with using basic quality control tools.
  • A strong understanding of quality control principles and their application in a fast-paced environment.
