Application Packager

We are developing our Application Packaging team on and have a new opportunity for an experienced and multi-skilled Application Packaging Team Lead to work within a team providing Application Packaging, Image Management and Deployment.

We are looking for people who are skilled in the requirements capture, analysis, development, management, and maintenance of a predominantly Wintel client desktop service.

This is an office-based role, 5 days per week in either our Bristol or Newcastle locations.

What you will be doing:

  • Understand MOD policies and industry best practices for protecting secure environments and environments in a disconnected state.
  • Maintaining and Repackaging of application installation routines from COTS and bespoke source installation media.
  • Alignment with base OS images and build sequences.
  • Configuration of applications / OS images within the software delivery infrastructure.
  • Definition and configuration of Application / OS lockdown policies and relaxations.
  • Unit test application installations and OS deployments within a locked down environment.
  • Baseline and release documentation for engineered components within the team's area of responsibility.
  • Management of client / application deployment infrastructure.
  • Provide a 3rd / 4th line incident and problem escalation for applications and operating systems deployed to the live environment.
  • Provide Application Packaging Management expertise for current and future proposed changes.

What you will bring:

  • Experience of Windows registry and file system.
  • A thorough administrator level understanding of Windows 11.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of application packaging methodologies and toolsets (Windows MSI, App-V, RedHat Package Manager, etc).
  • User Experience configuration and management via AppSense.
  • Active directory administration (specifically in the area of group policy management).
  • Windows scripting languages, ideally PowerShell.

It would be great if you had:

  • Support / maintenance of supporting Desktop platform infrastructure.
  • Image creation and deployment, e.g. MDT, creation of WIM's, task sequences, Citrix PVS image management.
