Our client is a successful and established business based in Blaydon. They are looking for a skilled and experienced Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting engineering projects with detailed 2D and 3D drawings suitable for manufacturing and creating renders for customer approval. You may have abackground in subcontract engineering, CNC machining, sheet metal, and proficiency in SolidWorks or experience with laser programming and offline CNC milling using Alphacam. The Job You'll Do

  • Develop detailed 2D and 3D drawings for various engineering components suitable for manufacturing.
  • Create high-quality renders for customer approval and presentation.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure designs meet customer specifications and manufacturing requirements.
  • Utilise SolidWorks to produce accurate and detailed engineering drawings and models.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to the production team during the manufacturing process.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of design processes and documentation.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects.
  • Perform reverse engineering on sample parts when necessary.
  • Manage and maintain design documentation and records accurately.

About You

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a CAD based role within a subcontract engineering, CNC machining, or sheet metal environment.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and experience with other CAD software.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of materials and their properties, including metals and alloys (Preferable).
  • Familiarity with quality control processes and standards (Preferable).
  • Experience with project management tools and techniques (Preferable).
