Children's Social Worker

We are seeking Social Workers to join our Children & Young People's Social Care & Safeguarding division. The role is crucial in providing a high-quality social work service to children, young people, and their families, ensuring their welfare and protection from harm. The successful candidate will be registered with Social Work England and will collaborate with various internal and external partners.

Day to Day of the Role:

Provide professional social work services in accordance with the Children Act principles.

Conduct enquiries and assessments of children at risk and make applications for Orders under the Children Act.

Work in partnership with service users in various settings, including office visits and home visits.

Prepare professional standard written reports for a variety of settings, including Court proceedings.

Represent the Local Authority in court, providing verbal and written evidence.

Maintain client records in line with statutory and departmental requirements.

Attend and contribute to child protection conferences, statutory reviews, core groups, and department meetings.

Contribute to the preparation and implementation of plans for children in need.

Work directly with service users using a range of social work knowledge, skills, methods, and techniques.

Participate in supervision within the departmental scheme and act in accordance with plans or undertakings given within supervision.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Social Work Degree (CQSW, CSS, DiPSW, or equivalent).

Registration with Social Work England.

Knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and a range of Social Work techniques and theories.

Understanding of child and adolescent development.

Experience in analysis and report writing.

Understanding of permanence planning for children.

Experience in a Social Work post within a statutory or voluntary agency working with children and young people.
