Senior Mental Health Support Worker - £26,500 - £29,500 per annum (Salaries vary depending on experiences)

Hours – 37 hours per week. Occasional evening & weekends.

Service – Transitional Support/Oxford.

What You'll Be Doing:

The Transitional Support?team are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join their team. The team focuses on providing care, 5 days a week,?for clients in both (staffed projects and houses out in the community) shared houses and flats, creating a comfortable, safe and pleasant environment while helping residents work towards more independent living in the future. The position will require occasional evening and weekend work as required in accordance with the shift rota.

Some of the core duties include.

  • Supporting, encouraging and prompting residents with their medication.
  • Conduct daily house/ room checks and report any damage or maintenance to the Repairs team and Deputy Manager/ Patch Area Manager.
  • Leading and coordinating the shift ensuring that residents are supported accordingly.
  • Assist residents with booking and attending appointments.
  • Delegating appropriate responsibilities across the team and supporting the team to ensure all task are completed for the day.
  • Taking part in a range of activities during key working sessions with residents whilst helping them to achieve their aspirations.
  • Undertake an enabling role with the resident in daily tasks such as self-care, shopping, budgeting and household tasks that promote independent living.
  • Update and maintain records electronically.
  • Ensure house rules are kept and adhered to, as well as providing a safe and respectful environment.
  • Conduct regular welfare checks and promoting residents to develop their skills and increase their independence.

Essential criteria:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
  • The understanding of types of mental health illnesses and the level of care some residents may require.
  • An understanding of current approaches to mental health practice.
  • Awareness of the local services available to those with mental health needs.
  • Previous experience working within a mental health environment, and providing care for those residents.

You will receive the training and confidence to use core therapeutic talk therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Strength-based Trauma Informed Care and Mutual Aid to provide the best possible support to our clients.
