**About the Role:

As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with profound and multiple learning difficulties. You will work closely with teachers, support staff, and therapists to ensure each student's individual learning, emotional, and physical needs are met. This role requires patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to the unique needs of each student.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in delivering individualized learning and care for students with PMLD
  • Support students with daily personal care and medical needs (training can be provided)
  • Work 1-to-1 or in small groups to provide focused learning support
  • Implement communication strategies such as Makaton or PECS
  • Work closely with the class teacher and therapy teams to create a safe and supportive learning environment
  • Monitor and support students' social, emotional, and academic progress
  • Provide encouragement and positive reinforcement to build students' confidence and independence

**Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with PMLD or severe learning difficulties is desirable
  • Knowledge of SEN strategies, such as Makaton or PECS, is advantageous
  • Patience, empathy, and a caring nature
  • Ability to assist with personal care and physical support (training provided)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A passion for working with children with complex needs
