**Revenues Inspector
Salary - £15.98 per hour PAYE
Location: Hybrid Oxford - Town Hall/Work from home
Job Type: Full-time, Temp estimated until Feb'25
We are seeking a proactive and organised Revenues Inspector to play a crucial role in monitoring property changes within the Oxford area. This position involves travelling within the council's boundary to inspect properties and building sites, ensuring the timely and accurate collection of Business Rates and Council Tax.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct inspections of commercial and domestic properties and building sites to determine completion of new builds and alterations, bringing these into rating in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate property databases and provide efficient property inspection services.
- Visit customers at home to assess eligibility for various discounts and exemption awards, reducing liability for those entitled.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure correct property database management and arrears collection.
- Support the development and delivery of the Revenues service by making recommendations for continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven knowledge of Council Tax and Business Rates collection.
- Experience working independently, managing own workloads, and using judgement to solve problems.
- Ability to interpret legislation and communicate information effectively to non-specialists both verbally and in writing.
This role involves a lot of visits, the successful candidate will need to be an active person that does not mind walking/travelling a lot.
