Assistant Team Manager - Epsom Locality Team

This role has a starting salary of £52,942 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week.

We are excited to be hiring a new Assistant Team Manager to join our fantastic Epsom & Ewell Locality Team. The team is based at Fairmount House, Leatherhead, with the potential to return to the Epsom area in the future. This is a brilliant opportunity to lead a committed and supportive team of dedicated and friendly staff. The role is hybrid working, with a mixture of working in the office and from home, aiming for a minimum for full time staff to be in the office twice a week and part time staff once a week.

The role of the Assistant Team Manager is well established and the strengths that they bring to Adult Social Care are acknowledged within the whole team and by senior management. There is a strong emphasis on supporting, developing and encouraging each team member to achieve and fulfil their potential.

The Epsom & Ewell team is a dynamic team offering the very best service to our residents. All staff receive regular supervision, and there are always experienced members of the team available to provide advice and guidance. The team sets great store by being responsive and strengths-based in supporting residents to reach a good outcome. About the Role

As an Assistant Team Manager, you will be an excellent communicator and demonstrate the skills and ability to manage and support the day to day running of a busy, dynamic team, effectively prioritising daily challenges and expectations. You will be confident in making sound decisions and respond flexibly and quickly to changing needs that arise in a high-pressure locality team environment.

You must have significant post qualification experience, including management experience in a social care setting, and be able to demonstrate good understanding of both the health and social care agendas. A key accountability of the role is developing staff practice and therefore applicants must be able demonstrate evidence of providing effective professional supervision to less experienced colleagues.

You must also be able to demonstrate an applied and effective knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults' procedures and be able to evidence this. You will have an understanding and commitment to supporting carers and a demonstrable commitment to providing management that supports and promotes Surrey County Council's equality and diversity policy.

Shortlisting Criteria

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • Professional qualification in Social Work or equivalent and current registration with Social Work England.
  • At least 4 years qualified experience
  • Experience of providing professional supervision
  • Knowledge of current legislation including the Care Act and the Mental Capacity Act and its application to practice in a social care setting
  • Commitment to your own professional development
  • Working knowledge of the principles of safeguarding

Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area.
