The Burford Recruitment Company is thrilled to be working on behalf of our client who is seeking a dedicated live-in Domestic Coupleto manage household operations for the family in their beautiful residence in Oxfordshire. This role requires a skilled and experienced couple whocan maintain the residence to a high standard and cater to the needs of the household. You will be provided with a two-bedroom self-contained cottage as well as ensuring two consecutive days off together.
This is a primary residence of a family of six and three family dogs. However, the children are in weekly boarding school and away at university, so are only home on weekends and/or school holidays. The main job will be in Oxfordshire but during some occasions when the family travel to their holiday homes you might have to travel with them and prepare the house.
The couple should work well together when needed and fulfil the duties described between them. The workplace is light and spacious with beautiful trees and grounds in the middle of nature.
Key Responsibilities
Houseman:
- Driving responsibilities include trips to London, airport runs, local errands, and weekly school drop-offs/pick-ups. Ensure the cars are clean and organized.
- Front-of-house skills such as serving occasional guests food and drinks.
- Supervise any visiting tradesmen.
- The family has 3 friendly dogs; occasionally dog walking within the estate grounds and caring for the dogs if the principals are away.
- Participate in garden duties alongside the Head Gardener and his team, once or twice a week or as needed.
Housekeeper:
- Hands-on housekeeping duties, from cleaning to organising the house, including excellent laundry skills and wardrobe management.
- Occasionally cook for the family, focusing on healthy, fresh, balanced cuisine.
- Front-of-house skills such as laying tables, caring for flowers, and great organisation skills.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in a similar role within a private household.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and a discreet demeanour.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends and evenings as needed
