Reed Recruitment (Southampton branch) are recruiting for our client for 2 x Mechanical Supervisors. Our client services water and waste water sites. One of the Mechanical Supervisors will be based in Ditchling, and the other Mechanical Supervisor will be based in Maresfield, East Sussex.

Our client is proud of their 100-year heritage, helping their clients efficiently and effectively collect, store, move and treat water and wastewater, plan and manage watersheds and harness the energy embedded in the treatment and movement of water. The overall purpose of this role is to supervise and lead site-based staff throughout their day-to-day work to achieve completion of projects as set out by the customer.

This role-

  • Work closely with the Site Manager on all operational activities.
  • To plan work for, and supervise, the Projects team and any sub-contractors to ensure work is completed to a defined standard, within agreed time and budget.
  • Proactively liaise with Project Engineers to prioritise work fronts.
  • Ensure adherence to all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.

Main duties & responsibilities:

  • Promote and maintain safety and follow established work practices.
  • Day to day line management responsibilities for Projects craft persons including holidays, training, performance and timesheets etc.
  • Responsible for daily delivery of site-based activities as per Programme.
  • Actively participate in Daily Site Briefings.
  • Ensure correct permits are in place where required and associated documentation is completed to a high standard.
  • Ensure a high standard of productivity is realised on site activities with efficient planning of labour, plant and materials.
  • Support Construction Manager in day to day activities, achieve adequate understanding of role to deputise when required.
  • Creation of any required Risk Assessments and Method Statements ensuring suitable revision and review is applied pre and post job completion.
  • Attend meetings with adequate level of detail to provide sufficient and satisfactory updates to the client.
  • Ensuring all weekly and monthly internal and external deadlines are met.
  • Work with Planning Engineer and Site Manager to ensure sufficient and deliverable work fronts are available at all times.
  • Managing and coaching individual's performance with the ability to manage a variety of cross functional team members.
  • Expected to train to Approved Person (AP) level.

Relevant experience & qualifications:

  • Relevant Mechanical Qualifications
  • CSCS card
  • SSSTS or SMTS certificate
  • Temporary Works Supervisor certification advantageous
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role.
  • Background in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience of MS Project and or P6 Primavera planning software advantageous.
  • Clear understanding of NEC form of contract is preferable.
  • A sound understanding on planned preventative maintenance.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good IT skills including a working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Previous experience in Water/Waste Water is desirable but not essential.
  • Valid UK Driving licence.
