Process Engineer (CI)

The successful candidate will be an experienced Process Engineer who will be responsible for the performance of specific Manufacturing process operations within one or more areas of the business.

You will be required to define a process, ensuring all documentation are correct and communicated to all team leaders so that correct operations and take a consistent approach to all products being manufactured.

Duties to include:

Support when required the NPI (New Product Introduction) processes to ensure a smooth transition into production (SAP New Parts & Major NPI Projects) including:

  • Routing Creation & Maintenance
  • eSOP's (Electronic Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Tooling Design, Procurement & Validation
  • Jigs/work holding design, Procurement & Validation

Various equipment programming / parameter changes including but not limited to:

  • Electronic Torque Tools
  • Press Tools
  • Dispensers
  • Measurement Devices
  • Air Leak Detection Systems
  • Paint Equipment
  • Wash Machines

Specify, Install and commission capital equipment in line with the business requirements.

  • Raise CEA Documentation including project scope, cost, justification & payback period

Support production department as required.

  • Problem solving - arriving at the conclusions necessary using appropriate tools and techniques (Six Sigma, Core Tools, Lean, SPC tools).
  • Support production to achieve targets in accordance with the production plan.
  • Report on all improvement issues within the scope of their role.
  • Continuously improve the performance of the process, equipment and production procedures in the most economic manner consistent with the business objective.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the technical throughput and capacity limiting issues are identified and work with the team to implement solutions.

Responsible for defining the process, ensuring that all shop floor documentation is correct, and that Team Leaders / Cell Leaders are aware of the correct operating procedures for their respective areas. Documentation ownership includes but not limited to:

  • SOP's (Electronic and PDF/Word Format SOP's)
  • pFMEA's
  • Process Flows
  • Control Plans

Work as part of a cross-functional team to respond to customer complaints participating in 8D investigations, implementing/completing the following activities:

  • Containment Actions
  • Root Cause Analysis
  • Corrective Action

Responsible for rework (out of normal) procedures, including documentation and qualification of the process.

Manage and document process changes through via the following procedures:

  • Engineering Change Notes
  • Engineering Trials
  • Manufacturing Change Notes
  • Concession / Permit

Using data to measure process performance and implement appropriate improvement activities including but not limited to:

  • Cost Reduction
  • Up-time Improvements
  • Capacity Improvements
  • Air Test/Performance Test Failure Rate Reduction
  • Cycle/Process/Routing Time Reduction
  • Defect Reduction

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5 years plus experience in a Mechanical Manufacturing Environment
  • Proven Lean Manufacturing Experience (Ideally six sigma Cert)
  • Continuous Improvement Experience
  • Design & Problem-solving experience
  • SAP or ERP experience
  • CAD - AutoCad Knowledge

Manufacturing degree (HND or HNC ideally) or a time served Apprenticeship in Engineering

Project management experience would be an advantage

APQP knowledge would be an advantage
