Catering Assistant

We are looking for a School Catering Assistant to join our vibrant school community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the food industry and enjoy working within a school environment. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the health and wellbeing of our students by preparing fresh and nutritious food.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Prepare a variety of fresh fruit salads.
  • Assist with baking cakes, cookies, and hot puddings as needed.
  • Support the Chef with food preparation.
  • Stock and manage drinks cabinets.
  • Label, store correctly, and rotate food items.
  • Assist with putting away food deliveries.
  • Operate dishwasher and pot wash.
  • Manage cashless tills during break and lunch times.
  • Clean the kitchen at the end of the day.
  • Use initiative and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Perform general duties as directed by the Head Chef.
  • Report all accidents and unfit foods.
  • Comply with all aspects of health and safety legislation related to catering.
  • Adhere to and carry out cleaning as per the schedule.
  • Assist with the Food Hygiene Management system, including daily monitoring records.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Basic catering experience is essential.
  • School experience is desirable.
  • Must hold or be willing to undertake Food Safety Training Certificate.
