Positive Behaviour Support Training Lead

We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Positive Behaviour Support and Active Support Training Lead to join our Quality Assurance and Practice Team in Sidcup. We're looking for experienced individuals with good knowledge and understanding of PBS and AS who can support our operational teams by delivering training for best practice.

Our charity runs specialist services for autistic people, people with learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries and complex needs. We work across Hampshire, South East England, London, Hertfordshire, East Anglia and Shropshire.

This is an exciting time for us, as Avenues Group also now includes Autism Hampshire – a leading Hampshire based charity supporting autistic people and their families.

In this role you will oversee the management of Avenues accreditation with BiLD and ensure our accredited training meets requirements and standards set out by BiLD, the Restraint Reduction Network and aspires to the PBS Academy training. In addition you will support Avenues employees to complete qualifications in Positive Behaviour Support.

Key responsibilities are;

  • To be responsible for the design, delivery and review of all Specialist Support Trainings in conjunction with the Senior PBS and Active Support Partner
  • To deliver training in the following: Positive Behaviour Support, Active Support, Practice Leadership and other person centred approaches including communication with a view to developing subject specific workshops relating to specialist topics.
  • To be responsible for the effective co-ordination and implementation of classroom based (and virtual) specialist training across the Group, including maintenance of the Training Needs Analysis
  • Work in collaboration with the Senior Learning and Development Partner and Learning and Development Partners where necessary
  • Work in collaboration with the Senior PBS and Active Support Partner and PBS and Active Support Partners per subsidiary to ensure that all Physical Interventions that have been prescribed have been assessed by the physio and risk assessed appropriately, including a review of the psychological impact from the use of these interventions
  • To work in partnership with HR & L&D Admin teams to book and coordinate trainings.
  • To be the contact for operational teams in relation to specialist training requests (in conjunction with administrative support) and maintain a good working relationship with operational teams and managers
  • Support and mentor Avenues employees through qualifications in Positive Behaviour Support.

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum 2 years' experience of supporting adults who display or are at risk of displaying behaviours that challenge and with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
  • Have at least 2 years' experience working in a Managerial Capacity within Adult Social Care and have a full understanding of CQC Regulations and the Mental Capacity Act.
  • Experience in identifying, designing, delivering and evaluating training courses to groups and individual
  • Knowledge and skills as a Practice Leader in Positive Behaviour Support and Active Support
  • Sound knowledge of the restraint reduction standards, PBS Academy Standards for Training and Organisations and the BiLD accreditation process
  • Up to date health and social care knowledge to ensure the effective design and delivery of statutory, regulatory and best practice training courses
  • Experience of managing and prioritising training needs based on operational requirements
  • Driver with access to own vehicle due to delivering training across the group
