Process Technician Waste

As an Operations Process Technician, you'll be at the heart of our frontline operations, taking on a wide variety of tasks that keep our essential wastewater treatment services running smoothly. With the ever-changing environment and the complexities that come with it, this role offers an exciting opportunity to get involved in meaningful work that impacts both our customers and the environment.

Based at Banbury STW, covering the Cherwell District, you'll be an integral part of our operations team, ensuring the continuous operation of our wastewater treatment works. Every day brings something different – from routine tasks to unexpected challenges. You'll work outdoors, ensuring we deliver reliable services to our customers while protecting the environment.

  • Location: Banbury, OX16 4RZ
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:36 PM (38 hours per week)
  • Call-out rota: You'll also participate in a call-out rota, with additional pay for your availability and response.

What you'll be doing as a Process Technician

  • Ensuring our sites are running safely, efficiently and within permitted site specifications to protect the environment.
  • You will be responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and maintaining equipment and reporting any defective items to ensure a swift repair or attempting a first-time fix where possible.
  • You will be expected to take ownership of your own and colleagues' health and safety by escalating any concerns to your manager or resolving them yourself where possible and appropriate.
  • Collating and reporting of data to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance.
  • Once on the full working pattern you will be working 1 weekend every 6 weeks.

You do not need a background in the Water industry. We would welcome applications from candidates outside of the sector, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas, but you must be:

  • Comfortable working outdoors, potentially in all weather conditions.
  • Prepared to work within the company's rota of a 7-day working week and participate on a standby rota.
  • Part of a team that delivers excellent performance by understanding how you affect the overall mission of Thames Water.
  • Have a good sense of humour, because of what you will be working with and not to be too squeamish.
  • Good with time management.
  • Confident to work effectively and efficiently on your own.
  • Keen to learn and operate complex processes with high-quality controls.
  • Able to complete basic tasks on a computer e.g., be able to input site performance data and view their day's work via a hand-held device.

What you should bring to the role

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience in delivering against challenging upper-quartile business targets and performance commitments.
  • A positive approach to handling changes, embracing all natures of change including technology, process, behavioural and organisational change.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service both internally and externally.
  • IT literate.
  • Team player who can work in many different teams showing respect for others, providing helpful feedback and supporting the development of others.
