Interim Financial Controller - 6 months

North West London Hybrid 3 days in office a week

£75,000 - £80,000 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller to join our leading multi-academy trust client. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring robust financial management across the Trust, providing expert guidance and support to senior leaders and the Board of Trustees.

Interim Financial Controller Job Duties:

  • Provide oversight and technical direction for financial matters, including managing accounting systems.
  • Produce financial reports and deliver expert advice to the CFO, CEO, Board of Trustees, and committees.
  • Plan and execute key financial activities, such as management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and annual statutory accounts production.
  • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Develop and monitor the Trust's reserves in line with the Reserves Policy.
  • Identify areas for operational efficiency improvements and financial savings.
  • Provide financial input for business planning, estates strategy, capital planning, and income generation projects.
  • Line manage and develop the centrally based finance team.

Interim Financial Controller Candidate Profile:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with at least 1 year of post-qualification experience.
  • Proven experience leading the production of annual statutory accounts.
  • Extensive experience managing a finance function within a multi-academy trust or similar environment.
  • Expertise in audit work, preferably within a multi-academy trust setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team of at least two direct reports.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an organized, systematic approach to work.
  • Motivating leader with a forward-thinking mindset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
