Job Overview: My client are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cyber Underwriter to join their team in London. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cyber risks, underwriting principles, and the ability to develop and maintain profitable cyber insurance portfolios. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and exceptional communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Risk Assessment and Underwriting:
  • Evaluate and underwrite cyber insurance risks in accordance with company guidelines and risk appetite.

  • Analyze complex risk submissions, conduct detailed risk assessments, and make informed decisions on coverage and pricing.

  • Develop and implement underwriting strategies to achieve profitable growth in the cyber insurance portfolio.

  1. Policy Development and Management:
  • Create and modify policy wordings, ensuring they are clear, comprehensive, and compliant with regulatory requirements.

  • Manage policy lifecycles, including renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.

  • Collaborate with claims and legal teams to address coverage issues and claims disputes.

  1. Client and Broker Relationships:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders to facilitate business growth and retention.

  • Provide expert advice and support to brokers and clients on cyber risk management and mitigation.

  • Conduct presentations and training sessions for brokers and clients to enhance their understanding of cyber insurance products.

  1. Market and Industry Analysis:
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging cyber threats, and regulatory developments.

  • Conduct market research to identify new opportunities and potential areas for product development.

  • Participate in industry conferences, seminars, and networking events to represent the company and gather market intelligence.

  1. Team Collaboration and Mentorship:
  • Work closely with other underwriters, actuaries, and risk analysts to share knowledge and best practices.

  • Mentor junior underwriters, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills and expertise.

  • Contribute to a collaborative and positive team environment, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in underwriting cyber insurance risks, preferably within an MGA or insurance company.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and brokers.
  • In-depth knowledge of cyber risk management practices and the current cyber threat landscape.
  • Proficiency in using underwriting software and tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
