Our client is a non-for-profit organisation, providing residential care to older people in an environment in which they can stay well and live their 'life in colour'.

With more than 20 years of experience in supporting people, they have 10 homes across the borough of Stockport and 2 in Staffordshire.

Job Profile

The Finance Director will contribute to the overall strategic direction and leadership of the group and provide clear and progressive leadership to the finance team to deliver the group's financial management and reporting requirements efficiently; ensure statutory compliance; and ensure that all financial commitments are met.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a forward-thinking individual who wants to make a real difference. Capable of supporting the CEO to drive this growing business forward, you will be a self-motivated individual who is comfortable with a 'hands-on' role but will have the ability to contribute at a strategic level.

The role is based at their head office in Stockport but, there will be some travel required to the other homes, also based in Stockport.

You will have/be:

  • CIMA, ACA or ACCA qualified accountant.
  • Previous experience working at a senior level within a commercial sector.
  • Experience of working in the public sector/working with local authority would be desirable, but not essential.
  • Proven experience in successful financial modelling, forecasting and budgeting.
  • Experience of implementing change and new systems, processes and procedures.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate financial information in a way that non-financial people can understand.
  • Ability to influence and build strong relationships at all levels.
  • Strong IT skills and proficient with Finance Systems including Sage.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading and developing the Finance team.
  • Developing and implementing financial strategies aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Financial planning, forecasting, benchmarking and analysis with regular reporting to the CEO.
  • Budgeting, modelling and developing business-appropriate financial plans.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory and fiduciary duties.
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the board, executive team and external auditors.
  • Driving process improvement and efficiency within the finance function and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Developing a Finance Business Partnering approach, ensuring the provision of appropriate financial information and support to the executive and management teams.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to the executive team on acquisitions and other business development initiatives.
  • Involvement in wider operational projects and innovations.
