We are looking for a Study Skills Adviser to join our team.

As a Study Skills Adviser, you'll join a growing team, providing academic skills support to our international student population. You will help students to develop their academic skills throughout their learning journey, being a key contact within the Student Services Department.

You will develop and deliver personalised one-to-one sessions on a variety of topics, seeking to provide students with the skills they'll need to succeed on their course. In these support sessions, you will be assessing the students' learning needs and adapting your teaching accordingly. You will be in touch with students at vital points in their learning journey and the development of materials for the learning platform.

What you'll bring to the role

Essential:

  • First Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Evidence of the ability to manage a high workload to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent IT Skills and willingness to embrace new technology
  • Ability to communicate complex content to students from a variety of backgrounds
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a growing team, sharing ideas and expertise

Desirable:

  • A postgraduate degree or equivalent qualification
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • Experience of supporting ESL students in an educational context
  • Knowledge and experience of supporting students with disability
