Location: West Midlands

My client is looking for an established HSEQ with experience working with heavy civils contracts to contribute to a high profile infrastructure project based in the Midlands. This project will be focussed around building pumping stations worth up to £14 million.

The Role:

As a Health and Safety Professional, you will have the opportunity to shape health and safety performance within the business and its supply chain on a daily basis. By managing a small team of Health and Safety professionals you will help deliver a cultural shift in the organisation and its supply chain. By working at a senior level you will be able to develop skills and behaviours that will ensure opportunities for career development and progression exist.

Responsibilities:

  • On a daily basis you will be managing resources proactively by planning and working with others to ensure the best health and safety advisory service can be deployed for the business areas of responsibility.
  • By building effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders you will be able to influence across boundaries and inform policy making both regionally and nationally.
  • You will be part of the Pre-Construction & Supply Chain Development & Performance senior management team that is accountable for championing the health and safety function, supporting the development of the health and safety supply chain development & performance and providing functional input to team decisions.
  • Success will be gauged through positive engagement scores and a recognisable improvement in health and safety performance with all your stakeholders.

Requirements:

You will have a degree or NEBOSH Diploma (Certificate with Experience also considered) in Health and Safety and membership of a recognised engineering or safety professional body, e.g. CMIOSH.

It is also desirable that you can demonstrate a comprehensive CDM2015 duty understanding and experience of delivery and clear understanding of the client responsibilities can clearly be demonstrated, as well as demonstrable knowledge and understanding of:

  • Construction site management
  • Commercial aspects and contract support
  • Procurement process & delivery
  • Lean application within safety
  • Delivering collaborative development principles in supply chains.
  • Stakeholder engagement & inclusion.
  • Strategic planning & development

About You:

  • Well organised, diplomatic, proactive, assertive and well-disciplined
  • Excellent customer service, communication and client/external interface skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal.
  • A track record of working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering to deadlines
