Overview -

As Project Support Office Lead, you will provide guidance and line management for the Project Support Office Team (up to 12 people). You will standardise project-related governance processes and facilitate the sharing of resources, methodologies, tools and techniques. The PMO role can also extend to monitoring compliance to programmes. Adaptively support new requests from for data and analysis to allow the business to make informed decisions. Whilst Supporting Senior Leadership Team.

Main responsibilities:

  • Managing shared resources across all projects administered by the PSO.
  • Providing the business with robust information to allow forward looking business decisions to be made.
  • Identifying and developing project management methodology, best practices, and standards in-line with Group Policy and in conjunction with the Business Stream Capability Leads.
  • Orchestrating Project and Portfolio Reviews.
  • Coaching, mentoring, training, and oversight on PSO team.
  • Monitoring compliance with project management standards, policies, procedures, and templates by means of project audits.
  • Developing and managing project policies, procedures, templates, and other shared documentation (organisational process assets).
  • Coordinating communication across projects.
  • Monitoring and controlling portfolio components, supporting component proposals and evaluations, facilitating prioritization and authorization, and allocating resources in alignment with organizational strategy and objectives.
  • Assisting with risk identification and risk strategy development and communicating risks and issues related to portfolio components.
  • Developing and improving templates and checklists.
  • Responsible and accountable for budgets for the Project Support Office.

Experience needed:

  • Ideally qualified to degree-level or equivalent experience in a Physics or Engineering based subject, such as; Electronics, Hardware, Computer Science, Software or Systems Engineering etc.
  • Holds or can obtain a Project Management qualification (PMI, APM or global
  • equivalent).
  • Highly ethical behaviour, instils trust and demonstrates and promotes company values.
  • Leads team in customer-focused behaviour, acting as an example to others.

Proficient or working towards:

  • Conflict management
  • Programme governance
  • Risk management
  • Stakeholder management
  • Resource and capacity management

Desirable:

  • Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous.
