Field based between Swindon & Reading

Role Objective:

You'll carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on a wide range of mechanical water and wastewater assets including pumps, filter beds, mechanical screens, valves, Fire Boosters, pipework and a range of chemical dosing pumps. The role holder will work at a variety of remote unmanned sites and will be experienced in construction of basic electrical control panels. You'll be provided with a vehicle, laptop and safety clothing appropriate to the job along with supporting the company's drive to improve safety standards.

To maintain, assess, diagnose, determine the most appropriate resolution and support any interruptions / issues to either the water service or sewage treatment process, and provide a full range of maintenance, installation and repair services to all electrical / electronic / mechanical assets relating to Water and Wastewater treatment processes across a range of STS contracts.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintain and Operate and Undertake day to day inspection, repair and maintenance of water and wastewater assets to defined internal quality standards.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service whilst meeting health and safety, financial, KPI, statutory, quality and contractual compliance.
  • Work with scheduling team and line management to maximise productivity and efficiency.
  • Provide quality daily job feedback to identify follow on work to minimise the avoidable failures for water quality and environmental consents.
  • Provide support to both customers and colleagues with technical input when required.
  • Manage personal workloads to ensure maximum flexibility, productivity and effective time management.
  • Undertake a range of activities as required and as skills and ability allow. This will include O&M activities, meter verification / installation, lifecycle works and general site maintenance duties, etc.
  • To fault-find, install, repair, inspect, replace and maintain aspects of fixed plant and equipment as requested to ensure it functions in a safe and effective manner. Provide timely feedback so that Head Office has up-to-date information on status of any allocated job.
  • Maintain level of professional expertise to ensure ability is held to repair/maintain a wide range of makes types and complexities of plant/equipment.
  • Operate and maintain the highest Health and Safety standards in accordance with all Company policy and procedures
  • Respond to reactive asset failures across numerous sites and undertake immediate fault diagnosis and determine rectification requirements to restore serviceability of the asset
  • Identify appropriate spares needed for effective repair/maintenance of equipment and either request spares from Maintenance Manager or instigate order personally dependent based upon purchasing guidelines.
  • Exercise judgments on equipment spend to ensure the appropriate and safe repair is balanced with the requirement to maximize cost effectiveness. Provide feedback on judgment of asset condition to assist with most cost-effective operation of the asset.
  • Provide high level of customer service to maintain customer expectations of quality service provision.
  • Support local operational incidents

Experience:

To be a success in this role, we are looking for experience in working with industrial equipment such as mechanical drives, gearboxes, hydraulic systems and pumping systems. Also, we will be looking for you to have obtained a NVQ level 3 Electrical & Mechanical qualification (electrical preferred with mech experience would do) or to have completed a relevant apprenticeship to help you in the role.
