Salary: £42,000 basic (+ Overtime Rate of x1.5 after 38 hours) (+30% uplift when required to work night shift).

Overview:
A well-established maintenance team is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Bias) to support its operations. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role will focus on performing essential mechanical maintenance tasks, responding to breakdowns, conducting planned preventative maintenance, and assisting with the installation of mechanical machinery and equipment. This position requires a technician with strong mechanical expertise, capable of following engineering best practices and adhering to strict safety and quality protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support production operations by maintaining and repairing production machines and mechanical equipment.
- Promptly respond to breakdowns and perform scheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical systems and machinery.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of mechanical components and equipment as needed.
- Comply with company policies, site rules, and health and safety standards, including permit-to-work and risk assessment protocols.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in all work areas and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Perform mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding on machinery, focusing on mechanical components, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Essential Requirements:
- Time-served Maintenance Technician with a mechanical bias and at least three years of experience in a heavy industrial setting.
- HNC qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proven experience with mechanical fault-finding and repair on heavy equipment.
- Valid, clean driving license.
- Strong attention to detail, adaptability, and a flexible approach to work.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Basic electrical knowledge and multi-skilled capabilities.
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and other heavy mechanical systems.
- Experience working in hazardous environments, with CompEx certification as an advantage.
- Familiarity with using PLCs and inverters for mechanical troubleshooting.

- Standard 38-hour work week with flexibility for shift work, including nights.

Location Requirement:
- Must be able to reliably commute to Hartlepool or plan to relocate prior to starting.
