4c is partnering up with a leading global manufacturer servicing the construction and utility industries as they seek to appoint a new Commercial Director. With a solid reputation in its chosen markets, our client has been in the forefront of innovation in their sector since 1965.

The Commercial Director is a senior leadership role within the business, reporting to the board and will have strategic responsibility for developing and executing a commercial strategy aimed at leveraging and maximising sales growth in both new and existing markets.

The role holder will lead and manage a successful sales team and will oversee the retention of existing business as well as driving growth across GB, ROI, Western Europe and further afield.

Key to success in the role is the ability of the role holder to assimilate product knowledge quickly and stay abreast of industry trends, working closely not only across the senior management team, but across all aspects of the business including partners and distributors and engage with a range of cultures across the globe.

A highly commercial leader, the successful candidate will have a curious and analytical mind - a strong interest in how things work, and a desire to implement solutions, drive performance and ultimately deliver exceptional customer service.

The successful candidate will also possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Significant experience leading the sales and/or commercial function, ideally from a highly technical sales environment, having responsibility for the development and delivery of international sales success and championing effective account management.
  • Experience of successfully managing tender processes working with the commercial team on preparation of tender documents coupled with experience of leading presentation of tender proposals to new and existing clients.
  • A proven track record of delivering sales growth against agreed targets whilst making a positive contribution to the overall team and driving continuous improvement.
  • Experience of analysing sales performance, identifying opportunities and areas of improvement.
  • Track record of leading a high performing sales team including establishing and implementing robust KPIs and sales and key account management processes.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen along with analytical skills and experience of providing reports and statistical information to Leadership and Executive level.
