Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Services Manager to lead and manage a technical services team within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing a team of seven professionals, including a Technical Services Supervisor, two Electricians, two Mechanical Engineers, and two Fabric Engineers. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all manufacturing equipment and facilities. The Technical Services Manager will focus on both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and ensure optimal production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 7, including a Technical Services Supervisor, Electricians, Mechanical Engineers, and Fabric Engineers.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the technical skills and knowledge of the team.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, providing feedback and setting clear objectives to drive team success.

Maintenance Management:

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of the PPM schedule to ensure minimal disruption to production.
  • Coordinate and prioritise reactive maintenance activities to ensure timely resolution of equipment and facility issues.
  • Collaborate with the production team to plan and execute maintenance activities during scheduled downtime.

Technical Expertise:

  • Provide technical guidance and support to the team, assisting with complex troubleshooting and problem-solving activities.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry advancements and integrate new technologies or processes to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a safe working environment.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the technical services team to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Analyse maintenance data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations for equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Reporting & Communication:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and team productivity to senior management.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments, including production, quality, and safety, to ensure alignment on maintenance priorities.
  • Foster a culture of open communication and collaboration within the team and across departments.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in a technical services or maintenance management role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse technical team.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and fabric engineering principles and practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to maintenance and repair challenges.
  • Familiarity with PPM systems and reactive maintenance strategies.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations within a manufacturing setting.
  • Exceptional organisational, communication, and decision-making skills.
