Behaviour Support Worker

Prospero are working in partnership with a specialist SEMH school in Trafford. The provision teaches secondary aged children who are unable to access mainstream education on a short term basis. The unit caters for boys and girls aged between 11 years and 16 years who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties which can create barriers to their learning. The pupils can display challenging behaviours so consistency is very important.

The children who attend this provision have previously often been absent from school which has resulted in them having large gaps in their learning. The provision allows children to have a second chance of gaining an education through therapeutic intervention and inclusive pastoral support.

As a Behavioural Mentor, you will be required you to supervise the pupils throughout the school day, encourage the pupils to engage with their education, build a strong rapport with the pupil, be a role model, help the pupils to understand why their education is important. You may be required to work 1:1 with a certain pupil or provide more general classroom support. The school would be interested in a candidate who has previous experience supporting children who display challenging behaviours. They would also consider applications from Sports Coaches, Carers, Residential support workers, Youth Workers and those with the experience within the Prison system or the Military.
