SERVICE ENGINEER – Site based - EV and Battery – Machine Tool OEM

£40,000 - £50,000 based on 37.5 hr week + Overtime at 1.5 x taking the OTE to circa £70,000 + Christmas bonus + summer cover bonus (estimated £500) company car + life insurance Private healthcare + dental + phone + laptop + tools + Generous hotel and food allowances + 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Hours: 7:30 – 3:30 (anticipated an extra 2 hours of overtime per day).

My client, a leading Machine Tool OEM, have expanded with great success into the EV and Battery space. They have recently won on an exceptionally exciting project valued at around £700 Million based in the JLR facility in Wolverhampton and are now looking to recruit up to nine site-based service engineers. The successful service engineers will receive world-leading training to get you upskilled on the exciting new technologies. They are open to candidates from an extensive range of backgrounds providing they have some experience with automation. The backgrounds include but are not limited to machine tools, FMCG, Warehouse Automation and Hydraulics. Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site inspections, diagnostics, and repairs at customer locations as required.
  • Ensure that all service vehicles are equipped with necessary tools, parts, and supplies for field service activities.
  • Coordinate with the service manager to schedule field service appointments and manage logistics.
  • Perform diagnostics on electric vehicles to identify and resolve issues related to battery systems, power electronics, electric motors, and control systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and servicing of electric vehicles in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and fix complex electrical and mechanical problems.

Requirements:

  • Multi-skilled candidates preferred, however, solely mechanical, and electrical candidates also encouraged to apply.
  • Experience within a previous service or maintenance role is essential.
  • Experience with automation and robotics.
  • Knowledge of Kuka systems is highly beneficial.
  • Competence working on PLC's would be advantageous, particularly the Siemens TIA portal.
  • Candidates must be able to read hydraulic and electrical plans.
  • Experience with diagnostics, trouble shooting, and repair of electric vehicle systems is desirable.
  • Familiarity with battery management systems, power electronics and electric drivetrains.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK and Ireland.
  • Live within proximity to commute to JLR Wolverhampton Monday to Friday as required.
  • Valid Passport and driving license required.
  • Flexibility for overnight stays when required.
